We have been importing organic and fairly traded True Cinnamon from the South of India to Canada for the last 15 years.

The farmers in our Indian Cooperative intercrop cinnamon in biodiverse, multi-tiered food forests, resulting in the highest quality. The cinnamon trees are hand harvested after three+ years, when the bark is mature and thick, resulting in a dark, richly flavoured, dense powder.

Sweet and rich, this True Cinnamon is not what you find on most store shelves. That is Cassia and contains coumarin, a carcinogen that can cause liver inflammation and damage.

Unlike the sharp spiciness of Cassia, Gathering Place True Cinnamon is naturally sweet and delicious and can be used without worry of coumarin toxicity. Add freely to baking, curries, oats, hot chocolate, pies, and coffee!
